Green Initiatives
In addition to protecting the lives of people and animals, we are also concerned about the well-being of the environment. We take care to conserve the resources we have, both for our own health and the health of the planet.
Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd./Ltée has taken a number of steps towards making our working environments more environmentally friendly.
Water:

In August 2007, we installed an irrigation controller that uses real-time, local weather information to adjust the on-site landscape irrigation system as weather patterns change

We use biodegradable cleaning products so that toxic chemicals will not enter the water system

Used solvents are treated by an external company

We use energy-saving lighting wherever possible
Recycling:

Our paper and cardboard recycling program has been in place since 1990

We recycle organic waste and compost food leftover from our cafeteria.

Paper plates, napkins, cups, cans, and bottles are recycled in our offices

Batteries used in our buildings are recycled and we encourage employees to bring in used batteries from home

Fluorescent light bulbs are recycled using the ozone-friendly Bulb Eater device
