Rx&D Industrial Pharmacy Studentship Program
Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D) is the national association representing over 20,000 Canadians who work for more than 50 research-based pharmaceutical companies in Canada. Boehringer Ingelheim is one of only eight companies participating in the 16 week long Rx&D Studentship program. .
This program is offered to a pharmacy student entering their fourth year of study in a Canadian Faculty of Pharmacy. It provides students with the unique opportunity to gain experience in the industrial setting. Students are able to rotate through the various departments of the company including Medical Information, Clinical Research, Operations, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Sales and Marketing and Business Intelligence. The program offered by Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd./Ltée is especially unique because the program's preceptor is a Product Manager based out of Marketing. The majority of students get placed elsewhere with a preceptor based out of Medical Information because this is traditionally a department where many pharmacists are able to use their clinical knowledge to aid in answering questions. However, here at Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd./Ltée, being based out of Marketing enables the student to be exposed to the different career options that exist for a pharmacist in the industry setting.
By participating in such programs, Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd./Ltée is committed to playing an intricate role in the educational development of young health care professionals.
