External Affairs Manager (Oncology) – Western Canada - PM 865 - B.C.

The External Affairs Manager delivers preferential access (reimbursement, adoption in protocols) and positioning of assigned BI products for adoption into clinical practice (i.e. through guidelines) by leveraging scientific evidence and clinical best practice standards to assigned stakeholders.

Responsibilities

1. Under the direction of the Manager, Sales/Access (Oncology), secures preferential access and acceptance in relevant clinical practice guidelines by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of all stakeholder/customer needs (including stakeholder mapping), value drivers, and systems/processes, and refining and applying BI therapeutic value propositions for the following assigned stakeholders:

* Provincial Drug Plans and Plan Managers
* Provincial Ministers of Health and Health Policy Advisors
* 3rd Party Insurance Groups/Private Payers
* NGOs, Patient Advocacy Groups (i.e. Canadian Cancer Society)
* Regional Healthcare Authorities
* Healthcare Institutions and buying groups (eg. acute and chronic care facilities)
* Family Health Teams
* Retail Pharmacy Groups
* Provincial Healthcare Agencies (ie pCODR,JODR, BCCC)

2. Under the direction of the Manager Sales/Access (Oncology), develops and negotiates stakeholder agreements which facilitates preferential access by:

* Applying a functional working knowledge of provincial healthcare policies
* Linking provincial policies to access opportunities
* Monitoring, predicting and analyzing future trends and recommending appropriate creative/innovative responses

3. Develop stakeholder advocacy by gaining acceptance of evidence contained within the Socio-political and scientific platform.

Qualifications

* University degree (Political Science, Health Science or Business preferred)
* Specialized knowledge of the inter-relationships between the pharmaceutical industry and access stakeholders (eg. governments/payers, politicians, bureaucrats, insurance companies, PBMs, pharmacies, health authorities, hospitals, etc.), gained through external affairs or government experience or strategic pharmaceutical marketing/ sales or business development management experience (3 to 5 years).
* Superior communication, public relations skills and strong business acumen.
* Superior diplomatic, negotiation and interpersonal skills
* Preference will be given to candidates residing within British Columbia
